Over the past 16 years Pat Garvey has become one of the UK’s most prominent player-educators. As well as nearly three decades of professional international playing experience, he has written over 300 educational articles for various periodicals including the iconic Rhythm Magazine and iDrum Magazine, gives talks and demonstrations internationally, holds the position of Head of Drums/Principal Lecturer at BU and has PTTLS, PGCert, & masters degree qualifications in learning and teaching. He also a published author and an artist in his own right.
With students that come to study with him from all over the world, in-person and online, he can count 100’s of students working successfully in different areas of the creative industries locally, nationally and internationally, as well as some playing with some of the top bands and artists in the world. Pat works with established pro’s, teachers, beginners and all in between, and teaches styles, technique, reading, RSL and Trinity grades 1 -8, electronics, drum recording, drum mixing and production techniques, and personal and professional development. He also specialises in teacher development and support working with teachers locally, nationally and internationally, and works with a wide variety of learning differences.
Pat's teaching studio is a 5 minute walk from Brighton Station, close to all bus routes and major transport hubs like Gatwick Airport and Brighton City Airport, and there are several car parks nearby as well as street parking. Zoom and Skype lessons are available for students that might not be able to travel and/or those studying from further afield in the UK and internationally.
